I know it is easy to want to attract everyone in the world. You want to be able to market to everyone. The truth is, when you try to target everyone, you don't attract anyone. For example, when you follow certain accounts on Instagram, you follow them for their specific content. I like to follow certain accounts that showcase hairstyling DIYs for short pixie cuts. That's pretty specific and the person putting out the content has a strong following of people who are looking for exactly that.
When you think about targeting your ideal client, try this activity. Get a notepad and pen, and start jotting down the following qualities you want in your ideal customer. Target Market -Age range -Gender -Lifestyle -Interests -Values If you get stumped on who to attract, think about yourself and who you would want to work with and to market to. For example, I am a mom of girls in my thirties. I ride motorcycles, love tattoos. I love makeup, skincare, and art. I am tough but a big softy. I am very close to my family. It is easier to market to someone that is familiar because we have a lot things in common already. You don't have to think really hard on what to do and say to relate to someone. With this information, you can then narrow down who to start following and adding on social media. You may also start producing content that will attract them and that serves them. Don't be afraid to be very specific with your content and the type following you want to build. Remember my pixie hair DIY styling example? You may think there aren't a lot of women in your immediate circle with this interest, but the beauty of social media is that your reach is all over the world. You will find your tribe that matches your vibe.
